Massage in Naples

A Client's recent Question:

What is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral Therapy is a light touch massage approach that can support dramatic improvements in the quality of your life. It releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction. The intent of this form of massage is to listen to the Cranial Rhythm and help the nervous system to relax and self-correct. Because Craniosacral is so gentle, it may be used with infants, seniors, people of all ages.

Craniosacral Therapy as used at Lighten Therapies is based on the foundation of Dr. John Upledger's DO's work. Dr. John was a pioneer who brought this type of massage and manual therapy to a greater range of people who have studied and fine tuned their skills with various levels of training and experience. Massage and Continuum by Emilie Conrad

Naples Massage Therapy

Massage is a wonderful gift that is tailored just to suit your needs at Massage Naples Florida... On an ongoing basis,  it is easy to feel and see the benefits of how your body responds to compassionate and skillful touch.

While the benefits of Massage and Bodywork are innumerable,  it is also important for clients to take some time in between sessions to listen and care for their mind/body/soul connection.

As a Massage Therapist,  I have constantly studied with Masters in their own field of specialty.  One woman's work who I found fascinating was Emilie Conrad, Founder of Continuum.  I have studied with her numerous times in intensives around the United States because the creative movement of this sound movement is powerful in releasing restrictions and allowing the tissues to awaken in their evolutionary fluidity.

In one class, we worked with the sounds of "JJJJJJhaaaaaaa" and "ZZZZZZZzzz", allowing the sound to  enliven our cellular tissues and fluids.  Especially the bones with this particular sound.  After the sounding, we brought our focus to the elbow and explored micro movement at that point, moving ever so slowly and tissues released, opening the arm and the ribcage as well.  This type of work nourishes the body with energy, lengthening and vibration in a way that can be practiced easily at home.

Continuum reminds me a bit of Craniosacral Therapy, but it can be done alone or in a group.  In Craniosacral Therapy,  we often ask the cranial rhythm to turn off when there is a significant detector that we need to address in the Somato-Emotional work.  When that happens, we hold the body in that effortless place until it unwinds and restores integrity to the system.  In Continuum work, as the person learns to listen well to his/her body,  it is easy to practice this at home.  In Structural Integration work, developed by Dr. Ida Rolf,  the focus is also on this spanning of the fascial tissues that can happen through direct manipulation or by touching gentle into the connective tissue and leading it to a place of release.

At Massage Naples Florida, we recommend that you take daily time to be proactive with your health.  I highly recommend that if you are interested in mindful practices and want to find fuller range of movement and flexibility in your life, that you check out the work of Emilie Conrad.  It will open your body to more vitality and health.
